AAU School Of Public Health invites Fresh and qualified applicants to apply for the following vacant positions.

he College of Health Sciences (CHS), Addis Ababa University (AAU), is a professional health sciences college, established in 2009/10 by the reorganization of previously separate institutions of health under one umbrella. The CHS is comprised of four schools and one teaching hospital. The four schools are the School of Medicine (SoM), the School of Pharmacy (SoP), the School of Public Health (SPH) and the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS).

The SAHS offers professional training in nursing, midwifery and medical laboratory technology. The rationale behind the establishment of the CHS is to encourage cross-breeding across various disciplinary paradigms; standardize curricula across disciplines; set standards and quality checks for the teaching-learning process; maximize human resources utilization through joint planning in teaching common courses and in conducting research; create opportunities in collaborative research and publication; maximize shared use of facilities for effectiveness and efficiency in teaching-learning, research and services; and create opportunities to address the health needs of the community in an integrated manner as a health team.

Position 1: Accountant

Education: BA in Accounting or related fields

Experience:  Zero and above years of work experience

COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel and Peachtree accounting

Position 2: Information Technology Officer

Education: Bachelor degree or equivalent in computer science/IT;

Experience:  Zero and above years of work experience

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain databases on all research related activities within the college;
  • Provide information and technical support to researchers;
  • Develop electronic resources for supporting the research activities of the faculty, staff as well as students;
  • Assist researchers in online proposal submissions, reviews, implementation, monitoring and reporting requirements;
  • Make electronically available  documents and publications  for facilitating research activities;
  • Assist in the identification and prioritization of IT needs in each year;
  • Assist in the specification, ordering and installation of equipment and software;
  • Control over and maintenance of user accounts;
  • Ensure and maintain data and network security;
  • Ensure continuous maintenance of network infrastructure and architecture;
  • Provide support for college IT facilities during  seminars and conferences
  • Design, establish and ensure continuous maintenance of the ORA web site.

Position 3: Finance Officer

Education: Bachelor degree in accounting, or related field , or very closely related field and zero and above years of work experience.

Experience:  Zero and above years of work experience

Other Qualifications and skills:

  • Effective communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision. 
  • Must have accuracy in detail work and good organizational techniques. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel
