The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Secretary (GSO).

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of (2) two years working in an office environment with full range of secretarial duties or customer service responsibilities is required.

LANGUAGE:

  • Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Amharic is required. (This may be tested)
  • Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. (This may be tested)

Skills and Abilities:

Must be able to work under pressure, work well on own initiative without constant supervision, take initiative in identifying and performing work to be done, be able to prioritize numerous tasks and perform the most urgent first while keeping others informed if delays are inevitable. Good computer skills and knowledge are required. Must be able to type 40 words per minute. (This may be tested)

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
